Wow this is a great discussion class

I learned that interpreter’s are there to convert spoken or sign language in real time at the location, such as medical appointment, courtroom or meetings either via Zoom or in person they listen process accurately regardless of the tone they have to maintain the exact message for accuracy.

Translator is on the other hand they have to translate written text from one language to another whether it’s on a website on a document or a forum forms blogs, etc. they have a longer amount of time to research the terminology of things. revise and polish for the accuracy of reporting. in order for it to sound natural in the stages of reporting. so the target audience.

Hi Laura it’s wonderful to hear from someone who has experience translating since January.Youve made a great point regarding translation isn’t word for word and in some cases can be adapted that’s great insight.that shows a lot of flexibility translators can have.i really like your point regarding the your example making humor sound fund fund and sadness truly feel sad to the target audience. I do have to say with interpretation we have to give the full meaning with out our own tone but rather stay focused on the conversation with out adding or changes.do you think you translation skills will affect Your interpretation skills you seem well informed too.

Emely I like how you brought Confidence to the table and staying focused being neutral super important for healthcare I thought the same thing also before taking on this course honestly I didn’t even think there was a separation until now. I agree with you fully with the accuracy in the hospital setting situation asking an interpreter to produce discharge documents definitely puts patients car at a high risk.
