The pituitary gland is an important function in the human body for various reasons. One of the reasons being, it manages the bodily functions to produce growth hormones into the bloodstream. The pituitary gland, also known as the “master gland” or hypophysis, is one of the two parts that controls the function of the endocrine system. The other part being the hypothalamus which is the main link to the endocrine system and the nervous system. In addition, the pituitary gland is as small as the size of a pea and is located in the brain. It is found in the sella which is in the bony hollow, established in the base of the skull. |
