Alveoli are small groups of sacs within the lungs found at the end of the bronchial tree. The two major bronchi and the trachea are collectively known as the bronchial tree.

The bronchial tree’s tubes deliver air to the lungs like the trachea does. The major function of the lungs, which is the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen, is carried out by the alveoli.

The separate round balls are known as alveoli sacs. The alveoli disperse oxygen inhaled through blood via capillaries. As you exhale, you produce carbon dioxide. The alveoli dispense the exhaled breath via the capillaries into the blood, and it ascends the bronchial tree, and then exits out of the mouth.

The alveoli have two types of cells, which are called type 1 and type 2. Type 2 assist with keeping the form of the tube and they help to diminish tension. Type 2 also have the ability to transform into stem cells. The majority of the alveoli cells are type 1 and are the separation between the air and the blood.

The outer layer called of the alveoli is called epithelium and has type 1 and type 2 cells. The Healthline article mention’s how the alveoli’s ability to function diminishes over time or due to other factors such as health or health decisions and pollution. It talks about harmful habits like smoking, and how it can irritate alveoli and destroy the lungs. The site also lists types of diseases that affect the lungs, and it gives tips on how to be healthy and avoid harmful factors.
