Arteries carry blood to the heart, and veins carry blood away from it. Both the arteries and the veins are part of the circulatory system. They’re also part of the subset or branch of the circulatory system called systemic. Page 7 of the book clearly says that arteries “carry oxygen rich blood through the body, while the “veins (blue) carry oxygen poor blood back to the heart.”

The four chambers of the heart are the right and left atrium, and the right and left ventricles. Each ventricle and atrium its own separate chamber. There is a further divide; the upper chambers are the right and left atria, and the lower part consists of the right and left ventricles. The superior and inferior vena cava bring oxygen depleted blood to the right atrium. The pulmonary vein brings oxygenated blood to the left atrium. Both the right and the left ventricles contract, with the left getting oxygen rich blood, and the right ventricle getting oxygen depleted blood. The four chambers work as a team to keep blood in proper circulation and flowing all throughout the body.
